MikeandJakes Update  December 3, 2012–
To all of our guests we so dearly miss! To give everyone an update as to what is going on with Mikeandjakes because I know several of you whom have not spoken to me in person are wondering.  MikeandJakes is my baby. My first food venture which has led me to grow into additional successful food ventures.

MikeandJakes applied for a liquor license so that we can extend our offerings to serve a nice dinner experience for our guests. In doing so, Mikeandjakes had to obtain town of poughkeepsie town board approval (which we did) and town of poughkepsie town board approval for the allowance of one restroom facility (which we also did) These approvals were done about 6 months ago. Recently, with the successful opening of the ice house and finalization of construction I was planning on doing our quick remodel for mikeandakes within a few weeks max and get back open.

However, two months ago when I believed we would have no hurdles with the town board approval blessings I went to apply for our building permit to construct the small bar and was told we needed to add another additional restroom because mikeandjakes was changing from a merchantile use (which was what red barn was classified as) to a restaurant use. The town boards one bathroom signoff was irrelevant. So really that even just doing exactly what we were doing and just extending our hours and menu made us be different.I immediately, even in disagreement, took action and hired the necessary licensed professionals to furnish building plans needed. This process also needed site plan approval, zoning signoff, etc… several channels of approval.These approvals take time and has cost Mikeandjakes. On a brighter note,
I am at the finish line I believe in finally obtaining the final steps to be able to begin renovations, which will include the addition of another restroom. Our menu will be amazing as will the service. Our marketing and branding may be tweaked but same backbones in management. I apologize to everyone for the delay and look forward to seeing everyone shortly. Will keep everyone posted.
